During the construction or repair of a fireplace enclosure, the adhesive should correspond to the type of boards being joined. Consider Board Adhesive Vitcas within the approved material system. The name "board adhesive" alone does not imply compatibility with every insulating board and every substrate.
Material compatibility
Check the adhesive usage sheet and the recommendations of the board manufacturer. Determine whether the connection requires additional fastenings, a specific geometry, or a substrate-preparing layer. Adhesive does not replace the support of an element that carries a heavier load. Do not automatically use the material for the casing as an adhesive for elements inside the firebox.
Preparation and application
Surfaces should be stable and prepared according to the product instructions. Remove dust from cutting the boards and check their dry fit. Maintain the recommended amount of adhesive, joint thickness, and time allowing for positioning the element. Do not try to correct large unevenness by accidentally applying a thicker layer.
Curing of the connection
During drying, protect the panels from shifting. In a cold cabin or garage, make sure the conditions meet the requirements of the adhesive. Wait for the specified period before further finishing and lighting the fireplace. Expansion joints and enclosure ventilation must remain in accordance with the design. Board Adhesive Vitcas should be used as part of a correctly planned construction, not as a way to hide installation errors.
