Therefore, it should not be described as just any ceramic fibre blanket or assume the same conditions for all materials with a shiny surface.
Check the composition and exact product
Bio-soluble blanket with aluminium foil has biosoluble fibres and specific applications in high-temperature systems. The manufacturer describes the role of the foil in reflecting thermal radiation. This does not mean a constant reduction of temperature or fuel consumption in every construction.
Bio-soluble blanket without this facing is a separate variant. Compare the format, thickness, and instructions if you are considering a change. Adding your own foil to another material does not automatically create a product with the same properties.
Orientation depends on the arrangement
Mark the hot part, fibres, foil, and adjacent layer in the cross-section. Confirm the intended side and the operating conditions of the facing in the given application. Do not derive the allowable temperature of each part of the assembly from a single value entered in the insulation name.
Determine the method of securing the material and finishing at the edges. Compression, tearing of the foil, or accidental breaks change the executed arrangement. If the insulation is to surround a curved surface, plan the fitting of the strips before cutting the elements.
Inspect the layer before covering
Check the support, connections, and potential water entry points. The film is not a standalone solution for rainwater drainage nor a guarantee of the weather-tightness of the entire enclosure. fibres should remain secured and protected according to their intended use.
When preparing, apply the requirements of the specific product's safety data sheet. Keep photos of the material orientation and a description of its variant. In later inspections, these will allow you to determine which layer was actually executed, rather than assigning properties based solely on the appearance of the foil.
