Vitcas 800°C Paint on an Enclosure: Surface and Moving Parts

Black Vitcas heat resistant paint for compatible metal surfaces

Painting the metal firebox enclosure should be planned together with checking its joints. The paint layer improves the surface in the appropriate application but does not repair a corroded bracket or sheet deformation. Before preparing the steel, inspect the entire component cold.

Separate the metal and the previous coating

Check corners, fastenings, and places where water accumulates. If deep corrosion or cracking is present, determine the extent of metal repair. Only then prepare the surface for the finishing material.

Remove loose residues using a method suitable for steel and the preserved coating. Degreasing and drying should comply with the product instructions. Dirt left in a recess may affect adhesion, even if a large flat surface has been cleaned.

Select the appropriate painting range

Black Vitcas heat resistant paint has declared resistance up to 800°C in the described applications. The manufacturer does not confirm it as a product tested for direct contact with food. The housing and baking surface should therefore be assessed separately.

The instructions indicate application without a primer. Do not apply your own layer with unknown operating conditions. Cover hinges, compression fittings, and sealing rope if the coating could change their function or fit.

Prepare the coating for use

Check the application conditions and the required drying and heating preparation stages. Follow the current instructions and the safety data sheet. Do not apply the product to hot metal to speed up the work.

After completion, inspect the edges and the movement of parts without forcing closure. Record the paint variant and the condition of the substrate. If the coating comes off quickly, check the mechanical contact, corrosion, and surface preparation, instead of considering simply applying a thicker next layer as the solution.
